Uplift News

We've just returned from the ultimate holiday--just the two of us for three weeks on a 36' sailboat in Austalia's renowned Whitsuday Island group. It's been a while since we took time off, and the process was not only regenerating and exhilerating but educational. The winds, tides and abundance of the ocean shaped our every moment.

Alicia acknowledged her place in the food chain and discovered she quite liked to fish... as long as Bob did the dirty work of killing and gutting. Work and play merged as it did for our hunter-gatherer forbearers... Sitting with a fishing line waiting for the sea to give up its bounty and enjoying the view, or sailing from one destination to another with the canvas rigged just right or congratulating ourselves for rationing our scarce water supply all offered contentment as well as being functional.

We returned to the news that the sea had not been so kind to our neighbors in the Asia-Pacific. And yet, amidst the scenes of horrifiying devastation, we were heartened by the powerful examples of human endurance, courage and altruism.

A short movement meditation combining Feldenkrais awareness through movement (ATM) techniques and principles with the traditional Buddhist walking meditation.

This meditation is an excellent exercise to incorporate into your walking or relaxation routine, repatterning movement program or every-day spiritual practice. Great to boost both mood and self-awareness.
